About

We’re working to transform local reporting on college by combining the sophistication of a national newsroom that knows a topic very deeply with the engagement of a community newsroom that knows a place very deeply.

Editorial Independence

We subscribe to standards of editorial independence adopted by the Institute for Nonprofit News.

Open Campus retains authority over editorial content to protect the best interests of the organization. We keep news coverage decisions separate from sources of revenue.

Accepting money does not constitute any endorsement of donors’ or sponsors’ products, services, or opinions.

We accept gifts, grants, and sponsorships from individuals, organizations, corporations, and foundations. Our news judgments are made independently. Supporters have no control over our editorial decisions. They do not have the right to assign, review, or edit any content.

Open Campus is committed to transparency. We will make public all donors who give $5,000 or more per year. We avoid accepting donations from anonymous sources. And we will not accept donations from sources that present a conflict of interest or compromise our independence.
